Great, inspiring article! Although I am only turning 60 in December, I feel right in line with these very accomplished 70+ year old men and women. They rock, and they are great examples of what is possible with determination and discipline. No matter how young or old you are, it is almost literally never too late to start exercising.

My personal short-term goal is to lose 10 pounds by Labor Day. My strategy…walk 4 to 5 miles daily and strength train (kettlebells and sandbags) at least 4 times weekly, preferably five, and focus on improving the quality of the calories I consume (more fruit and veggies, fewer refined grains, consistent consumption of good quality protein). It’s not rocket science, it just takes concentration and willful choices.

Rather than slowing down in the inevitable shuffle to our graves, from our seventh decade onwards we should be ramping life up a gear, say medical experts.
